YANMAR 36st America's Cup Official Marine Supplier

Cowes, UK (August 31st, 2018) -The America’s Cup is the oldest trophy in international sport and the pinnacle of yachting. From inception, the America’s Cup has strongly embraced technical innovation.

The Yanmar partnership was announced today at the America’s Cup Overture in Cowes (UK), the first event on the road to the America’s Cup Presented by Prada which will take place in Auckland in 2021. Racing will commence in autumn 2019 when the first America’s Cup World Series events will take place in the Mediterranean. Over the next twelve months the best teams, from the most prestigious yacht clubs, will be designing and building their AC75 yachts in preparation for the America’s Cup World Series that will continue in 2020 with more racing in North America and Asia. The focus will then be on Auckland with the Christmas Race and the all-important Challenger Selection Series, the Prada Cup in January-February 2021. The Prada Cup will determine which Challenger will line up against the Defender, Emirates Team New Zealand for the 36th America’s Cup Match in March 2021.

Yanmar’s marine diesel engines will be used on the America’s Cup Race Management boats, essential for their role in the successful delivery of the America’s Cup on the water.

The America's Cup is the oldest trophy in sport and is recognised as the pinnacle of sailing. Leading up to the America's Cup Match, are the America's Cup World Series events in 2019-2020, the Christmas Race and the Challenger Selections Series - the Prada Cup in early 2021 to determine the team which will challenge the Defender, Emirates Team New Zealand in the America's Cup Match Presented by Prada in March 2021 in Auckland.
